Letter To The Family About Our Therapeutic Consulting and Intervention Services

Dear Family Member,

Thank you for coming in to meet with us today to discuss the current situation with your family member. We are confident we possess the experience and expertise to help you with many of the challenges you are currently facing. The R&A Therapeutic Partners interventionists and therapeutic consultants are very skilled at working with individuals that are ambivalent, reluctant or even resistant to seeking help for a substance problem, a mental health disorder or some other difficult challenge they may be facing. Our model of intervention is clinically focused, invitational, transparent whenever possible and tailored to each individual family’s needs. We have helped hundreds of families over the years find solutions to very complex problems in order to begin on the journey to healing, health and happiness.

As part of the many services R&A offers, our team will prepare you and guide you through an intervention/therapeutic placement process, engaging with your loved one and assisting you to find the most appropriate treatment options, as well as providing any additional resources specific to your family’s needs. Our work together will consist of guiding and supporting you through a process of engaging your loved one in a very strategic and organized way that will lead to his or her ultimate acceptance of the need to get help. Our team of clinicians and medical professionals will assess your loved one to determine what type of treatment is most appropriate given the presenting problem. In the event we need further assessment, R&A has relationships with different treatment providers locally and across the country and can arrange for more comprehensive assessment when necessary. Once the individual has accepted help and is receiving treatment, we will remain in contact with the treatment providers, collaborating with the treatment team and receiving regular updates regarding your loved one’s progress. In addition, our team will always be available to help you respond to any crisis that may arise during the course of treatment. Also, we will work with the treatment programs to assist in coordinating discharge planning once the individual is preparing to transition to the next level of care. Our consultants will meet with you regularly to address concerns, educate you about the treatment process, and prepare you for any possible challenges that may arise. Should there be a situation that requires our immediate attention, we are always available after normal business hours to consult with you and provide direction and support.

We want to stress the importance of working with the entire family during the intervention preparation and execution as well as throughout the treatment process. Addiction and mental health issues are family illnesses that affect all those involved who care for the person that is suffering. It is important for everyone to become educated about the nature of the problem, understand the different treatment approaches and learn to focus on their individual needs, in addition to supporting the individual in receiving help. Self-care is crucial to the recovery process for everyone! Sometimes when a person is finally admitted to treatment, families may be under the impression that the most difficult part is over yet often there are new and different challenges that arise once someone has begun receiving treatment and even after completion of a program. This is why we will guide you through the process of recovery over the long-term and help you avoid some of the pitfalls that many families face, helping to increase the probability of a successful outcome.

Our therapeutic consultants are seasoned mental health professionals, credentialed in our disciplines and members of several professional organizations that hold us to very high standards of ethics and competency. We are Certified Intervention Professionals, Licensed Mental Health Counselors and addiction professionals with over 35 years of combined experience helping families in therapeutic consulting roles and in actual treatment settings. This is why the R&A team is uniquely qualified to help your family develop and execute a plan that will ultimately lead to your loved one receiving the best possible treatment to match their individual needs. Our consultants have been formally trained in different intervention approaches including ARISE, Family Systemic and Johnson models and over the course of performing hundreds of interventions, we have developed our own style and unique techniques, which have proven to be successful. It is also important to note that our consultants are independent and do not receive any compensation from treatment programs. R&A only receives compensation from the families we serve so we are not clouded by conflicts of interest or other ethical compromises. We have the same goal in mind as you do, to find the best possible treatment options for your family. Our job is to assess an individual’s and family’s needs and then present treatment options that we feel most effectively address those specific issues. In most cases, we are recommending treatment programs that we are very familiar with, often we have visited personally and we have experience referring families to. Sometimes we may utilize our extensive network of other referring professionals to research additional treatment options depending on the case and the nature of a specific problem. We always do our best to create a non-threatening, invitational approach using caring and compassion to encourage a person to take charge of their life, receive the most effective treatment and begin the recovery and healing process.

Please let us know if you have any questions. It is an honor that you are considering us to help you and we look forward to working with you to guide your family through the intervention, placement, treatment and recovery process. We know how difficult this can be for a family so please let us know if there is anything else we can do to make this decision easier for you.

Compassionately,

The R&A Therapeutic Partners Team
