None of Us Were Prepared for COVID-19
The past few weeks have been a challenge for everyone no matter what other issues we may be facing in our lives. It’s incredibly difficult to navigate these uncertain times, especially when we don’t know when all of this will be over. Fear of an illness like COVID-19 can create strong emotions in both adults and children; so can the loss of one’s previous lifestyle, support network, and coping mechanisms. As such, many people are struggling with worsening symptoms of anxiety, depression, and other mental health issues during this time.
As we spend weeks and possibly months in self-quarantine, emotional health has become more important than ever before. By cultivating hope and addressing issues as they arise, you will be equipped to thrive – not just survive – in the days ahead.
We encourage you to seek therapy services in the form of virtual telehealth sessions during this time. R&A has always been able to offer online therapy and consultation to our non-local clients but we are now making this platform available to everyone.
How Self-Quarantine Challenges Relationships
Typically, we choose to spend time with our loved ones at our own discretion. We experience natural separation from them in the form of work or school, then reconnect later in the day to share stories and seek support.
Due to COVID-19, families have found themselves in constant contact with each other. This togetherness presents many unique opportunities, but it also creates challenges in even the strongest relationships. Issues that were ignored or previously resolved may bubble to the surface, and boundaries need to be set. Our team of therapists can help you to acknowledge and address tension in your relationship during self-quarantine, all through confidential telehealth sessions.
Support For Individuals and Families
Coronavirus has changed life drastically for all of us. Many individuals and families are struggling with our new reality and some are even suffering with increased anxiety, depression, feelings of loneliness and despair. Times of high stress like this can increase symptoms of mental illness and can cause us to cope with these new challenges sometimes in ways that are not healthy and can even be self-destructive. Use of alcohol and other substances can initially make us feel better but in the long-term can make our challenges even more difficult. Families can become very stressed during this time and relationships can suffer. This is why it is so important to take care of yourself, seek additional support whenever possible and make sure you are paying attention to your mental, physical, emotional and spiritual health. None of us know when things may return back to normal and it is quite possible we will have a new normal in our future, which is why R&A is expanding our telehealth counseling and consulting so we can continue to provide all of our services to clients.
R&A’s Telehealth Services
R&A Therapeutic Partners is accustomed to utilizing telehealth services as we work with individuals and families locally, nationally and internationally but we are now enhancing this platform to prepare for our “new normal.” Telehealth is defined as the use of technology to provide remote therapy, counseling and consulting. We have adapted our proven approach to an online platform, ensuring that you receive the highest level of care while still protecting your privacy. These services are ideal for existing clients who are looking to continue their work, or for new clients who would like additional support as we all adapt to the changes in our environments. Teletherapy is fully confidential, and research indicates that it can be just as effective as in-person sessions. To learn more about our telehealth services, please contact R&A today.
